The putty family has come apart four times in ninety days, and the cause is a spelling. Amazon accepts both SIZE and SIZE_NAME when a family is created and rejects one of them on update, so whichever string the family was born with is the only one that will ever work on it. Ours sends the other. That is why the fix is not a re-attach — it is that the theme a family was created with is read back once, stored on the family, and every later write uses it. A re-attach fixes today; storing the theme is what stops the fourteenth break.

A detached child is not a cosmetic problem, which is why it is on a board of its own. It loses the parent’s reviews, it starts again on rank, and the traffic it was getting goes to whichever sibling is still attached — so a listing screen can show every row live, healthy and in stock while the family they belong to has quietly come apart. The relationship is the thing that broke, and a relationship has no row of its own on a list of listings.

Blocked is not the same as broken, and the slant board is the reason that distinction is a column. Its family cannot be repaired through the API at all: an established ASIN cannot be re-typed, so the only route is a relist, which starts the reviews at zero. That is a decision for a person, not a job to retry nightly — and a queue that retries it anyway produces a failure every night until everybody learns to ignore the queue.
